President Peter Mutharika has urged Malawians to vote for his Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in the 2019 elections if the country is to continue developing.

Mutharika made the remarks in Area 25 in Lilongwe when he was inspecting a road project in the area. The Malawi leader also inspected roads in Kawale and Area 36 in the capital city.

He said the DPP is fulfilling its promises and Malawians would do well to make sure it retains power in 2019.

“During campaign we promised Malawians to bring development and now the Democratic Progressive Party led government is implementing what it promised, Vote for DPP in 2019 elections if the country is to continue developing,” said Mutharika.

The Malawi leader rejected claims by other politicians that his government is only developing the southern region of the country.

He added that after constructing roads in Lilongwe, Blantyre, and Mzuzu his government will also do the same in other districts to perfect communication and transportation.

Commenting on the hunger that has affected over half of Malawi’s population, Mutharika said that his government is trying all it can to save hunger stricken Malawians.

“Yesterday I met with donors and we discussed ways on how we should implement the country’s food insecurity response plan,” Mutharika said.

He further advised Malawians not to only rely on Nsima saying they can also eat ‘Mbatata’ ‘Zitchetche’ and ‘Chinangwa’.
