Lutepo wants K1 Billion for sex report

Cashgate convict Oswald Lutepo is ready to knock on the doors of the courts again, in demand of a staggering one billion Malawi Kwacha.

According to information that Malawi24 has, Lutepo has sued Times Group over a publication it made which indicated that he is accessing the essentials of his wife while in the cooler.

According to a report in The Sunday Times of 5 June, 2016, Lutepo has been having conjugal visits while at Chichiri prison.

However Lutepo has refuted the reports and through his lawyers he has written Times demanding a compensation of K1,000,000,000.

“We do not believe that prisoners have no rights to their reputation. We therefore have instructions to claim from you the sum of One Billion Malawi Kwacha being damages for libel on the footing of aggravated damage” lawyers for the cashgate convict wrote to Sunday Times.

Lutepo claims that the report aim to cast him in bad light and affect his chances of getting a parole or appealing his case.

“We find the publication of your article repugnant to journalistic ethics as Mr. Lutepo was not contacted for his side of the story” added the lawyers.

Lutepo was sentenced to 11 years over his role in the Cashgate scandal. At the time he was being sentenced, it was said that he was disabled.
