You will not believe this! The former Flames captain, Joseph Kamwendo is deep trouble with fans baying for his blood over a selfie he took before flying to Harare with the Malawi national team for a crucial 2017 Afcon qualifier against Zimbabwe slated for this afternoon.
The disgruntled supporters have branded Kamwendo as unpatriotic for choosing what they consider a foreign flag over Malaw’s while posing for a selfie on a national duty.

“Sometimes I wonder. How do you explain to be a Malawi national player on duty but portraying a strange flag? I think we don’t love our country. That’s the major problem. And that is why we have failed to do anything positive even in sports,” wondered one patriotic Malawian on Facebook.
The midfielder maestro was once dropped by Enerst Mtawali in September last year following his lackluster performance when Malawi were beaten 2-1 by the Warriors at Kamuzu Stadium.
Kamwendo was also left out of Malawi’s squad that travelled to Nigeria sometime back by Bukhard Ziese who was the team’s coach by then.
In Zambia, during the Cosafa tournament, Kamwendo, who captained the team, was seen refusing to take a penalty when the Flames were booted out of the tournament by Zimbabwe.
A lot of people have been questioning his commitment ever since he was appointed captain of the team, before being ousted by Mtawali last year.
Malawi24 understands the questionable foreign flag on a bag that Kamwendo is showing to the camera is a Rastafarian rather than for a country.

peace colour Africa is 1 no #borderation

There is serious issues to look into rather than individual Rastafarian flag of Kamwendo issue.
What prompts you and Malawi 24 to report this sort of nonsense?Don’t you have something realistic to tell us!!!!!Even a std 6 kid sees no substance in the post…..
I am a Zimbabwean but Kwamwendo was by far the best player in the Malawian team in the match against Zimbabwe. In fact he was the man of the match for me. He completely kept Nakamba off in the midfield and Zim was always playing second to the ball.
Inakawina flames bwezi muri colour blinded osazdidziwa kuti mwana amabanda uyu. Nice one kamwendo.pliz next time do it again. Malawi does not have a national flag.
