The Malawi movie industry has received a major boost with the unleashing of a locally produced television series, Subarbans.
The series comes after ages without a highly entertaining and educative TV drama produced in the country.
The soap is currently enjoying airtime on Zodiak television station and is a product of Malawians highly motivated to take the local film industry to greater heights. Its repertoire enshrines daily issues as experienced in local context, with befitting characters giving it their very best.
In an exclusive interview with Malawi24 on Thursday, the series producer who also serves as a script writer and director, Tawanda Masara, said the soap has a diverse storyline which represents the interests of Malawians and Africans in general.
“Surbabans has a rich storyline that celebrates the dreams and aspirations of Malawians specifically and Africa in general,” said Masara
Masara added that rivalry, treachery and blackmail between siblings, friends and foes alike make Surbabans one of the most forceful dramas Malawi has ever produced.
Suspense, intrigue and tension are the order of the day as the plot unfolds and romance influences relationships between warring parties.
The soap has unifying features as it accommodates different communities based on age, traditions, and religion. All Malawian languages have been fused in the series thereby downplaying possibility of creating divisions.
“The fusion of all Malawian languages and traditions makes Surbabans a delicious recipe for all the TV drama lovers coupled with an all-inclusive and suspense filled episodes which caters for a viewership of all ages and a cut across all race , traditions, genders and religious dispensation,”
