Four years for stealing items worth K9,800

The Ntchisi First Grade Magistrate Court on Tuesday sentenced a 24 year-old man to 4 years imprisonment with hard labour for burglary and theft.

crime (2)The court heard that the man, Manuel Jesinawo, on the night of April 25 2016 at Ntchisi Agriculture Lines in the district broke and entered a store belonging to Laurent Makowa Banda and stole a charcoal burner, two pails, an axe and a bag of charcoal, all valued at K9,800.

Presiding over the case, First Grade Magistrate Dorothy Kalua said the offence is serious hence the offender deserves a custodial sentence to deter other would be offenders.

Jesinawo hails from Tandwe Village in the area of Traditional Authority Malenga in Ntchisi.
