28 people netted during sweeping exercise


Police in Mzuzu are keeping in custody 28 people suspected to have committed various crimes in the city.

crime (2)The suspects, 20 male and 8 female, are between the ages of 19-35 years and were arrested in locations like Chibavi, Masasa and Zolozolo.

According to Cecilia Mfune who is the Deputy Public Relations for Mzuzu Police Station, the people were arrested during a sweeping exercise conducted on the night of 5th -6th May 2016.

The sweeping exercise was aimed at reducing crime within the city. It is suspected that those arrested might have been involved in crimes like burglary and theft.

The 28 suspects will appear in court to answer the charge of Rogue and Vagabond contrary to section 184 of the Penal Code.
