Big Bullets have long been linked with Kaliati who has a one year contract left on his current Wanderers deal and is having second thoughts about signing a new one.

The player was not in the squad that drew with Dwangwa United at the Kamuzu Stadium, fuelling speculations that he may be on his way out of the club.

Bullets technical director Billy Tewesa told a local radio that the People’s Team are keen on a Wanderers player and that a deal is imminent.

However he refused to confirm when asked if the player in question is Kaliati.

“We have set our eyes on one Wanderers player but currently we cannot mention his name, but we are just waiting for just few days before we sort out everything,” he said.

He added: “I am not just joking, when I come openly and say these kind of sensitive issue on public it means we are closer to the player.”

Kaliati came through Police All Stars and had a brief spell with Azam Tigers before signing for Wanderers.

He has won one Carlsberg Cup with Wanderers and has been a runner-up in the FAM Cup.

Kaliati would be a terrific signing for Bullets and a fine addition to an attacking line that already include the likes of Dalitso Sailesi, Chiukepo Msowoya, Muhammad Sulumba and Henry Kabitchi.

It would be a huge blow for Wanderers though as they would lose yet another star to their archrivals after Muhammad Sulumba chose Bullets over Nomads in the last transfer window.

Wanderers would undoubtedly prefer to sell Kaliati abroad if he is insistent on leaving the club.
