Nyasa Big Bullets beat Red Lions 2-1 at Balaka Stadium on Sunday afternoon to collect their first 3 points of the season.

Goals from Muhammad Sulumba and Nikiza Aimable were enough to sink the Zomba based soldiers.

Coming from last week’s goalless draw against Moyale Barracks, Bullets started the match with three strong defenders in Yamikani Fodya, John Lanjesi, and Miracle Gabeya who were defending Ernest Kakhobwe’s goal.

The match started on an impressive note as both teams, were in search of an opening goal of the match in the early minutes of the match.

But it was Nyasa Big Bullets who scored first after Muhammad Sulumba produced a thunderous shot beating the Lions goalkeeper on the 10th minute of the match.

On the other end, Red Lions started pressurising the Bullets goal and they pulled level through former Blue Eagles strikers Loti Chawinga.

After the goal, Red Lions kept on pressuring Bullets and they could have taken the lead through Willard who had a golden opportunity but his shot missed the target.

The missed opportunity cost Lions as Nikiza Aimable scored on 39 minutes and the first half ended Bullets 2 Red Lions 1.

Come second half, both teams came in with fresh ideas as Bullets were in search for more goals whereas Red Lions were looking for their equalising goal of the match.

Both teams had several scoring chances to score but they all lacked composure in front of goal and the game ended 2-1 in favour of Bullets.

In other matches played today, Dwangwa played to a goalless draw with Max Bullets whereas Civo beat Mafco 3-2.

The students from Mzuzu University beat Kamuzu Barracks 3-1 at Mzuzu Stadium and the result means that Kamuzu Barracks have returned with zero points from their trip to the north.
