According to Phiri, despite some difficulties stakeholders managed to plant trees in most parts of the country.

He explained that dry spells and shortage of seedlings were among the challenges the ministry faced during the tree planting season.

Government expected people to plant 60 million trees during this year’s planting season but 45 million trees were planted.

“In the southern region we have managed to plant 26 million trees, 4 million in the northern region, and in the central region we have planted 15 million.

Phiri however explained that the tree planting season is still going on since some parts of the country started late than others.
