Nyasa Bullets and Mighty Be Forward Wanderers are expected to renew their rivalry meet in charity game in a bid to mobilise people to donate blood.
The game will be played at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe this coming Saturday.
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has partnered with Malawi Blood Transfusion Service (MBTS) in order to urge football fans to donate blood and help save lives.
FAM Commercial Director Limbani Matola said the game is for charity work and aims at mobilising football supporters to donate blood.
He explained that the game will help address blood shortage in Malawi’s hospitals.
According to Matola, Malawi’s hospital are falling to treat some patients due to shortage of blood.
“We do not know who is going to benefit but there are people in hospital and who are in need of blood,” he explained. He said the two teams have already signed a contract with Fam.
On his part, Malawi Blood Transfusion Service public relations officer Allen Kaombe said the board will open blood donation points at several places such as Area 23 Police Unit ground, Chinsapo UNICEF ground, and Ntsiliza primary school and on Saturday, people will also donate blood at Civo Stadium from 8 AM to 12 noon.
“We are expecting supporters to come in large numbers,” he said
