Police in Ntchisi have arrested three people for allegedly cultivating indian hemp.
The incident happened on Sunday April 3 2016 in the villages of Chikowa, Kawenje and Kachirandozi in Ntchisi.
Police have identified the three suspects as Davis Mzunga aged 38 from Chikowa Village, Austin Kambewa aged 37 from Kawenje Village and Petro Kadam’manja aged 40 from Kachirandozi Village, all from Traditional Authority Chilooko in Ntchisi.
Police report indicate that Malomo Police Unit got information from respective village heads and detective Sub Inspector Orphan Mkhalipi together with other police officers went to the respective village heads and uprooted the indian hemp with most of it at maturing stage.
The three suspects have been charged with the offence of cultivating indian hemp which they admitted and will appear in court soon to answer the charge.
