Kaliati: Turns ire on Admarc workers.

Member of Parliament for Mulanje West Patricia Kaliati has warned Agriculture Development and Marketing Corporation (Admarc) officials to stop selling maize to vendors who later sell it at exorbitant prices to poor Malawians.

Kaliati issued the warning at Mwawure in Mulanje district. She warned those indulging in the malpractice that they will face the law.

”We are warning Admarc officials to stop selling maize to vendors or else face the law,” said Kaliyati. She also encouraged people in her constituency to plant drought resistant crops like Cassava.

Kaliati then commended government for the continued supply of maize in her area. Government has been warning Admarc officials to stop selling maize to vendors who buy the maize in bulk in order to sell it at a higher price.

Currently, Malawians are struggling to access maize in Admarc depots across the country.

In some areas people are buying the staple food at 5Kgs per person per day, contrary to a set policy of 20Kgs per person on a day.
