Delivering Hope International (DHI), an American humanitarian organisation has disclosed that it is yet to hand over an aircraft to First Lady Gertrude Mutharika’s Beautify Malawi Trust (BEAM) to be used for responding to emergencies in the country.

In 2014, DHI revealed that it will give the trust a BD4 aircraft, which is a two seat light aircraft, to help in rescuing victims of disasters and providing humanitarian support. The aircraft is capable of landing or taking off on a flat field that is as big as a football field.

Two years down the line, DHI has revealed that the organisation needs US$65,000 for modification of the plane before donating it to the trust in September this year.

The organization further disclosed that it is yet to find a pilot and engineer to look for the plane for some years.

Malawi has been seen using military helicopters to rescue victims of disasters in the country.

During the 2015 floods in the Lower Shire, President Mutharika released a presidential chopper to help in rescuing victims.
