Man stabs friend to death after banter

knife-bloodMalawi police in Nayuchi Machinga district on Tuesday arrested a 25 year-old man for stabbing his friend to death after argument over who was poorer Machinga police has confirmed the development and identified the suspect as Usuman Biziwick and the deceased as 35 year-old Meya Walusa.

Speaking to Malawi24 yesterday, Machinga police spokesperson Davie Sulumba said both the deceased and the suspect were involved in banter over who was poorer between the two.

Haroon Abdul, a resident who reported the matter to police told officers he was on his shade at the shore when he saw Biziwick chasing Walusa.

The two were in their canoes sailing at Lake Chirwa and were beating each other with sticks. “He heard the deceased shouting for help, Abdul followed and he found Walusa bleeding heavily after sustaining a deep cut of his neck,” Sulumba said.

Postmortem revealed that Walusa died due to severe bleeding.

The suspect is waiting for court proceedings to answer charges of murder in accordance with section 209 of the penal code.

Both the deceased and the suspect are from Mphonde village, sub-TA Mchinguza in Machinga district.
