Phalombe residents have expressed displeasure with lack of equipment at the district’s hospitals as the facilities have had a malfunctioning X-ray and scanning machine for over 3 months.
Speaking to Malawi24, Phalombe residents said that pregnant women are now going to Holy Family for scanning, something which is causing most of the women to delay in going for scanning.
”Pregnant women surrounding Phalombe District are referred to Holly Family hospital so the main challenge we are encountering due to the malfunction of the scanning machine is the congestion at Holly Family because all the pregnant women who needs scanning go to the same hospital.
“We are appealing to the government to do something on the issue,” said one resident.
Davie Chilomo, public relations officer for Phalombe district health office, confirmed the development and said that the X-ray machine needs to be repaired while the scanning machine needs to be bought.
However, he said the district health office needs to be given time to discuss the issue with relevant stakeholders.

The government is sending more money on expensive cars which are for nothing of benefit to us the people why not maintain the health standards in hospital like get good machines which will save lots of people even millions of lives but a car no way it only for their enjoyment…… If you check an x ray is not that expensive there are many ranges of cheap equipments of this type which the can buy and improve the health standards….. But our leaders I don’t know what’s wrong with them the only think of themselves… Please we need leaders of think of there people.
