Shocking developments continue to haunt people of Zingwangwa Township in Malawi’s commercial city of Blantyre where two weeks ago a man murdered his wife and stepson before committing suicide.

Malawi Toilet This week, residents of the township rescued a newly born baby from a pit latrine.

A video that is circulating on social media shows women washing the rescued baby who is believed to be less than three days old.

As the baby is being bathed, a group of men outside the house cannot help but share a word of sympathy.

One man says: “Ana amenewa ndiamene amazakhala ophunzira kwambiri kutsogoloko (such kids become very educated when they grow up).”

Meanwhile, the Zingwangwa community is still in the dark as to which woman committed the atrocity. They have been left with nothing but a bunch of unanswered questions.

Others are suspecting prostitutes while others think that it could be anyone. However, Zingwangwa is a highly populated township so efforts to find the mother may end up in vain.

The sex of the infant is not known since it is very small and the way the women held it makes it hard to identify the baby’s sex.
