Two men jailed for possessing nine bags of subsidised fertilizer

ArrestedThe Midima Senior resident magistrate Mangawa Makhalira has ordered two Malawian men to pay a fine of K20, 000 each or to serve 6 months in prison for being found in possession of nine bags of subsidised fertilizer.

According to Assistant Public Relations Officer for Limbe police station, Widson Nhlane, the convicts are Andrew Nangalo, 35, and Petros Makondetsa, 28.

Nhlane said the two men were arrested at Bangwe roadblock after they were found with nine bags of subsidised fertilizer which they wanted to sell to vendors at Limbe market.

”The suspects were about to sell the subsidised fertilizer to a vendor in Limbe market and the nine bags of fertilizer have so far been sent to ADD,” he said.

The crime is contrary to section 329 of the penal code.

Nangalo hails from Lechepa village T/A Chimalilo in Thyolo district whilst Makondetsa hails from Thekelani village T/A Nsabwe in the same district.
