They never signed a contract with the American sports wear company but Nsejjere name was everywhere when Malawi’s Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) chairman Raphael Humba announced their new K10 million partnership with the Americans without signing a valid contract.
Humba kept on telling the media that his association was told to go ahead with the league under the name of their new sponsors without a contractual agreement between the two parties.
Months later, Nsejjere has made Humba to dance to his own tune after branding his association as ‘fools’ and that they don’t know what they are doing.
The company’s management was responding towards a letter sent by Humba, reminding them that the 2015 season was over and successful teams would now be looking forward to get their prizes from their sponsors
. But instead of releasing the K10 million to the association, Nsejjere has released a bomb.
“You are fools. You dont know what you are doing”, said Nsejjere in a very short response to Humba and his fellow executive committee members.
Reacting to the response from the so-called sponsors, Humba refused to comment on the development but was quick to say that his association will drag the American company to court if they fail to honor their verbal agreement with SRFA.
“I haven’t received any formal communication from them but what i know is that we sent them a letter in which we told them to respond after three days. If they have branded us fools, I will respond after a formal communication.”
“There was a verbal agreement between us and we were told to go ahead with the league under their name as such, we will drag them to court if they fail to honor the agreement,” said Humba. He also added that his association will refer the issue to the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) for help.
SRFA will have to source some funds elsewhere in order to award the league’ champions as well as the second and third placed teams respectively.
