Teen in custody over abortion

Malawi Police in Ntchisi district have arrested a form three student at Mpherere Community Day Secondary School for terminating a pregnancy.

policePolice have identified the suspect as Rose Kawaza, 19, and says she was in a love affair with a married  man, Manfred Kondwani Jowo, of Kamsonga Trading Centre since September 2015.  

According to police, the suspect realized that she was pregnant when she commenced the second term of school on January 4, 2016 and agreed with Jowo to abort it.

Police says with the aid of Jowo and a health official at Kamsonga Health Centre, Kawaza terminated the pregnancy and she was then admitted at Ntchisi District Hospital on January, 5 2016.

Kawaza hails from Magwero Village in the area of Traditional Authority Chilooko in Ntchisi.

  55. That’s absurd. Do the police have any idea how many abortions are carried out every year? If they did, they wouldn’t have bothered arresting her. It’s unfortunate that she got arrested because she is among thousands of women and girls who’ve aborted multiple times. When you make your conclusions keep in mind that abortion is done for several reasons and willingly. And you men don’t judge us women.

      There are many robbers out there the police deals with those got arrested to face judgment against laws of the land.
      You can’t tell me that someone gets into sexual practices without knowing the outcomes interms of early unwanted pregnancies and infectious diseases!
      Prevention is better that negligence!

A married man who couldn’t even think of using protection. I assume that this girl must’ve only been in this relationship to get money to buy herself things she needs
