According to Kumpalume, the medical personnel are working hard to save the affected people by prescribing them with recommended treatment.

Kumpalume said out of the 191 people who were recently hit by the disease, the majority of them have been discharged and it is only 18 patients who are still admitted.

The minister also visited Namanja area at Nsanama health centre in chief Kawonga’s area where 44 people have been affected by cholera.

According to Kumpalume, his ministry knows that every year there is a cholera outbreak during the rainy season.

The minister, however, asked other government stakeholders to take part in making sure that these outbreaks stop.

Cholera is a disease that is caused by ingestion of contaminated food or water and it can be prevented by observing hygiene.
