“Last month, another young man was also beaten severely on the same ground to the extent of being admitted at Mzuzu Central hospital. The place is being used by some murderers as a death trap,” said Anthony Banda, a resident in the same township.

Some community police members for the township confirmed of being aware of the stories of brutalities happening at this ground and recalled that one day they besieged it but they could not manage to catch them.

“They however promised to work round the clock to bring the suspects to book very soon so as to bring calm in the township where currently tensions are still boiling high.

“They snatch people’s phones and money and they kill those who don’t have. We will nab them; they are not clever as we are. As community policing, we have our own ways of tracing such criminals,” said George Nyirenda, one of the community policing members.

In this city, townships like Zolozolo, Chibavi and Sonda are known to be home to criminals and youthful gangs who are very violent.

Recently, people found the body of a woman and her child within Sonda Township while last yearn this publication published a story of a Livingstonia University second year student who was brutally killed in Zolozolo township.
