It is now no secret that Malawi heavyweights Mighty Wanderers remain better than their town rivals Big Bullets in spite of the Nomads’ Super League struggles.
The Nomads are on position 9 on the league table with 26 points whereas Big Bullets are topping the table with 41 points.
However, Wanderers have already won a trophy having beaten their rivals in the finals of the Carlsberg Cup last month 2-1 in Lilongwe.
With the Carlsberg Cup win, Nomads proved to the nation that they are a better team than Big Bullets despite losing 2-1 to their rivals in the league.
The Nomads are also in the finals of the Standard Bank knockout cup and they advanced to the final after beating Blue Eagles 1-0 at Civo stadium in Lilongwe on Saturday. Their rivals Big Bullets were kicked out in the semifinals by Civo United at Kamuzu stadium on Thursday.
There was a higher possibility that Wanderers could have also beaten Bullets in the finals of the Standard Bank knockout cup taking into consideration that the Nomads takes cup games more seriously than league games.
Still, Nomads are likely to finish this season with a double as they are the clear favorites to win the Standard Bank Cup when they meet Civo United in the finals.
