President Peter Mutharika is set to address the nation this evening as his Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) administration marks one year in government.

The address comes at a time when Malawians are facing growing pressure from prolonged power outages, water shortages and fuel scarcity.

State broadcaster Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) announced the address on its social media platforms, saying it will broadcast the President’s speech this evening.

Mutharika’s address comes on the first anniversary of his administration, which took office after winning the September 2025 presidential election.

The President is expected to reflect on his government’s first year in office and outline its priorities for the next phase of its five-year term.

His address will also come under close public attention as Malawians continue to demand answers to the economic and social problems affecting their daily lives.

Among the issues confronting the country are persistent electricity blackouts, dry taps in some areas and shortages of fuel that have left motorists spending hours looking for supplies.
