Chihana inspects development projects in Rumphi, pledges support for market upgrade

Malawi’s Second Vice President Enock Chihana inspected several development projects in Rumphi District on Saturday.

He already visited Bolero Community Hospital where he inspected the mortuary construction and was briefed on the progress of the project.

During the visit, Chihana expressed satisfaction with the progress made on the mortuary construction and urged the contractors to ensure timely completion.

Chihana then proceeded to Bolero Market where he promised to support the completion of the Bolero Market Shelter and the improvement of sanitation facilities at the market.

The Second Vice President emphasized the importance of proper market infrastructure in improving the lives of local traders and the community at large.

He also paid a courtesy call on Paramount Chief Chikulamayembe’s home at Bolero, where he was warmly received by the traditional leader.

Chihana was accompanied by Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) parliamentary aspirant for Rumphi Central Constituency by-election, Paul Nyirenda, and other political leaders on the tour.

The visit was seen as part of the government’s efforts to engage with local communities and assess development progress in the district.

Rumphi District is one of the areas in Malawi that has seen various development initiatives aimed at improving healthcare, infrastructure, and economic opportunities.

The Second Vice President’s visit is expected to bring attention to the needs of the local community and potentially unlock support for various projects.
