Temwa, one of Malawi’s top contemporary music voices, has announced an immediate break from all music releases and activities, saying she needs time to “reset and recalibrate” her art.
In a statement on her official Facebook page, her management confirmed the pause is intentional and necessary to protect the integrity of her work.
Music activities are expected to resume in December 2026, when she feels the “time and voice are right” to return.
Born in Rumphi in 1996, Temwa, also known as Temwa Gondwe, rose to fame in 2018 with the hit “Malawi.” She is known for blending Afro-soul, R&B, pop, and amapiano, and has become one of Malawi’s leading female performers.
Temwa remains an independent artist, performing across Malawi and collaborating with others. She is also active in social causes and entertainment beyond music.
Her notable songs include “No Size,” “Sindingakwanitse,” “Ndilikuti,” “Nditumeni,” and “Mvetsela,” alongside collaborations such as “Makolo Ndi” with Lawi in 2025.
