Landlord Entertainment, led by hip hop artist Gwamba, has expressed shock over Castel, Malawi’s leading alcohol producer, for bypassing their management and directly engaging Linde Lounge in Mzuzu for sponsorship of Gwamba’s upcoming “Wanted Tour” event.
In a statement shared on Gwamba’s Facebook page, it was revealed that Castel arranged a partnership with Linde Lounge without the knowledge or consent of Gwamba or his team.
This unexpected development was followed by a public social media announcement claiming sponsorship of the Wanted Tour, which only added to the confusion.
In light of these events, Gwamba emphasized the importance of large corporate entities like Castel engaging directly with artists and their management teams.
He stated, “It’s crucial that they don’t throw a wrench in the works by sidestepping established agreements,” highlighting the need for transparency in such collaborations.
Meanwhile, in response to the backlash, Castel Malawi issued its own statement, asserting that their involvement in the event was based on a formal sponsorship agreement aimed at providing communication and support.
“We take pride in supporting our partners as they host events for the public,” the statement said.
In conclusion, the tension between artistic integrity and corporate interests remains a significant issue in the entertainment industry, and this incident serves as a reminder of the importance of collaboration and respect among all parties involved.
