Flames midfielder, Chikoti Chirwa, is expected to travel to South Africa to attend trials at Premier Soccer League (PSL) side, Chippa United.

Chirwa who is a regular player for the national team is one of the best midfielders in the country. His side Red Lions have however been chopped from Malawi’s top flight league.

According to an invitation letter seen by Malawi24, the Red Lions player is expected to be in the rainbow nation next week Wednesday.

“We invite Mr Chikoti Chirwa…to attend football trials at our club from 16th January 2019…that will tentatively take two weeks,” reads part of the letter signed by Chippa team manager, Dennis Mitsepe.

Both the player and his agent Prince Jere of Touchline Sports Management Agency have confirmed the development with Chirwa expressing his excitement saying that’s what he has been expecting.

“I am very happy with this news, this is what I have been anticipating in my football career for a long time,” Chirwa said in an interview.

Chippa are currently second from the bottom of the 16 team Absa Premiership league with 12 points from 16 matches. They will face Orlando Pirates on Tuesday where a win will take them out of the danger zone.
