Opposition political parties have condemned President Peter Mutharika for ignoring their request to meet him over the problems Malawi is facing.
Speaking to the media, president of Umodzi Party John Chisi said Mutharika is yet to respond to the letter the opposition parties wrote to request a meeting.
“As opposition parties in the country we want to meet the president and discuss on what can be some of the solutions to the problems that this country is facing, we wrote him a letter through governments’ chief secretary office but until today the office of the president has not given us any response,” said Chisi

He added that Mutharika always says the opposition do not offer solutions develop the country’s problems yet when they ask to meet the president, he does not even show interest to meet them.
“We are not against the DPP government but the situation in which this country is passing through this time has reached a stage where one cannot handle it on his own that is why we were requesting to meet the president and find some of the possible solution to the current problems in the country,” he said.
Malawi is currently facing a myriad of challenges including hunger, power cuts, and an economy that refuses to grow.
