With three games to wind up the 2016 Tnm Super League season, the battle for Malawi’s elite football golden boot award is getting hotter week in week out as MAFCO F.C striker Richard Mbulu has now set a three goal lead over fellow contenders.
Mafco striker Richard Mbulu has now netted 19 times and he has a three goal advantage over Be Forward Wanderers bulldozer Peter Wadabwa who is second with 16 goals whereas Nyasa Big Bullets striker Chiukepo Msowoya is third with 15 league goals.
The MAFCO F.C striker scored his 19th goal of the season when his side MAFCO F.C was playing Red Lions over the weekend at Zomba community ground in Zomba and the game ended in a 1 all draw.
Mbulu’s 19th goal will act as a warning to Chiukepo and Wadabwa who are also hot contenders and are chasing him for this year’s Tnm Super League golden boot award.
But looking at Mbulu’s scoring record this season in the league, it is with no doubt that he is on odds favourite to become this season’s top goal scorer in Malawi elite league.
Mafco now remain with games against Premier Bet Wizards Blue Eagles and Civo United and there is hope that Mbulu can manage to score at least a goal in each of MAFCO F.C ’s remaining fixtures.
The Mafco hit man and Nomads striker Wadabwa are looking to win the award for the first time in the history of Malawi football whereas Chiukepo will be hoping to win it for the second year in a row after also winning it last year as a joint top goal scorer with Red Lions striker Innocent Bokosi.
