Chiefs urged to protect people with albinism

As people with albinism are still living in fear because of inhuman acts that they are facing in the country, Senior Chief Kaluluma of Kasungu has urged fellow chiefs in Kasungu to play a crucial role in curbing attacks against people with albinism.

Kaluluma made the remarks after meeting people with albinism, parents, and chiefs to discuss ways to fight abductions and killings of albinos.

The meeting took place at Bokosi ground in the district. The district recorded a case of exhumation of bones of person with albinism earlier this year.

Kasungu Police officer-In-Charge Ackis Angel Muwanga said the community has a big role to play in protecting people with albinism.

In a related development, Police in Salima on Thursday arrested two men for being found in possession of bones that are suspected to be of Fletcher Masina, an albino who was killed in Ntcheu.

The number of suspects who have been arrested in relation to the killing of Fletcher Masina has now reached eleven.
