The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has called on government to increase the money which is used for organizing the Presidential Cup in the country.
Speaking in Mulanje, FAM Club Licensing System manager Casper Jangale said government needs to add more to the current K60 million kwacha arguing that it is failing to meet its clubs’ demands.
“The only call we can make from the government is that they should add more money from the current figure, teams are failing to travel from one place to another because of money” said Jangale.
Jangale further argued that the current allocation money cannot help to uplift football in Malawi due to devaluation of the local currency.
In 2009, late President Bingu wa Mutharika launched Presidential Cup with the aim of improving football games at lower level football.
