Police at Nchalo police unit in Chikhwawa have arrested a 15 year-old boy for killing a girl who had refused to have sex with him. Police in the district confirmed the development and identified the deceased as 12 year-old Dorothy Mpuluka.
Officer in Charge for Nchalo police Eluby Simfukwe said the boy made sexual advances on the girl who was a relative to his uncle’s wife.
“Both the deceased and the suspect were wards to Mr and Mrs Kennedy and during the night of 3rd March the boy tried to persuade the girl to have sex with him which she refused.”
“The next morning Dorothy reported the matter to her aunt who advised them to follow good morals,” Simfukwe said.
The 15 year-old got furious for being reported to his guardian and when the aunt went to the market he strangled the girl, laid her on the bed, and left the house.
Few hours later the boy was nabbed and brought to police where he admitted to have killed the young girl.
A post-mortem conducted at St Montfort Hospital revealed she died due to manual strangulation. The deceased hails from Sekeni village in the area of Traditional Authority Lundu in Chikwawa.
