Malawi’s Vice President Saulos Chilima has taken a swipe at Malawian experts for misleading citizens through their statements made in the media.
Speaking during Malawi Law Society (MLS) annual general meeting in Mangochi on Friday, Chilima said the statements made by some experts make Malawians to be hopeless.
The Veep further branded the experts as “idiots” because they are causing “anxiety” among citizens of this country.
President Peter Mutharika has recently been under criticism for among others failing to put an end to the maize crisis that is affecting the country.
Among the experts who have criticised Mutharika’s government include former presidential legal advisor Allan Ntata who branded the president as “irresponsible”.
Opposition political parties and some delegates at the Public Affairs Committee conference last week also called for Mutharika’s resignation saying he has failed to revive the country’s economy.

Now here is their issue. Malawian leaders are happy ruling uninformed people. When experts enlighten society it does not mean the hate you. They want people too bee informed. That’s all. I do not understand what you mean by saying they are idiots. But the truth is Malawians as you know are mostly illiterate at 65% most of whom are decision making age group. These people need. To know the whole truth.about pertinent issues in the county. Experts are there to translate most of that detail in simple terms. Thank you bwana
