Police net 20 Malawians for ‘walking at night’

ArrestedMalawi Police officers in Mchinji district on Tuesday arrested 20 people for rogue and vagabond.

Mchinji police public relations officer Moses Nyirenda said the 20 people were nabbed after they were found walking without proper reasons, which is contrary to section 185(1c) of the constitution.

He said people who walk anyhow   especially at night have wicked intentions and that is why the law enforcers arrest them in order to protect other citizens.

According to Nyirenda, among the people arrested, two are suspects to have killed a watchman who was on duty at a market in the district.

In another development, police in the district have arrested a man and two teenagers for stealing five bags of maize and two bags of groundnuts

The man has been identified as Alex Sosten, 35, of Mgunda village in the area of Traditional Authority Mkalo in Chiradzulu.
Sosten and the two boys will soon appear in court to answer charges of theft in accordance with section 309 of the penal code.

  1. What a foolish and stupid idea it is to outlaw walking at night.Malawi will become the laughing-stock of the world if many people learn about.
    The police are idiots and any judges that enforce that foolishness should be fired for mental illness.
    At this rate breathing at night will soon be illegal unless you buy a pass from the police.
