…Malawians urge Prophet to challenge Mutharika
A cross section of people in Malawi have urged South African based Malawian controversial prophet Shepherd Bushiri to consider standing for Presidency.
The remarks have come following Bushiri’s distribution of maize to people worst affected by the hunger disaster the country is experiencing.
Malawi24 has observed comments on social media and various public spaces including public transport and drinking joints in which Malawians are urging the self acclaimed man of God to consider standing for the top seat in the country.
“Major is the real deal, 2019 I am giving him my vote,” posted a social commentator provoking positive feedback from a cross section of people who shared the sentiments.
“While Mutharika is failing to contain hunger, look at Bushiri outshining him. He is worthy of being a President,” a passenger in a Zomba minibus said creating debate.
The suggestion seemed to have pitted Mutharika against Bushiri whose good deeds have suddenly made Malawians accord him a hero status although he was castigated last year of being fake.
“A leader should lead by example, while Chakwera and Mutharika are wasting their time with press statements Bushiri is in the field distributing maize. He is the kind of leader that Malawians need,” commented a social commentator.
However, in an interview with the media earlier this year Bushiri distanced himself from political ambitions saying being a President of Malawi would be a demotion to him.
