Mulanje cedarThe Leadership for Environment and Development (Lead) in southern Africa says woodlots which the organisation established in Machinga and Nsanje districts in 2010 have been managed properly.

Lead Regional Director for Southern Africa Sosten Chiotcha made the remarks during a tour of the areas.

He commended residents in the two districts for being responsible by caring for the trees the villagers planted with help from the organisation.

Chiotcha said his organisation has found that the trees which they planted have survived in spite of the geographical setup of the area.

He explained that in Machinga district the tree planting exercise took time due to the setup of the area which is full of hills.
