Malawi super league side, Mighty Wanderers sponsors Be Forward have told the team’s executive that they do not want elections at the club saying they prefer working with the current George Chamangwana led executive committee.
This follows Wanderers’s decision to conduct polls this month end starting with the Supporters executive committee polls before the main executive committee polls on 6 February.
However, their sponsors are not willing to part ways with the current executive committee saying they handled well the team’s K70 million package for last season.
“We have been told by sponsors that we should not conduct the polls but we need to respect the club’s constitution so we are in a very tight situation,” said Wanderers general secretary Mike Butao in an interview with a local radio station.
Be Forward has just increased their package from K70 million to K105 million but it will depend on whether the current executive committee continues serving the club after the polls.
