A photo has appeared on Facebook of a patient sleeping on the floor at Malawi’s Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital at a time that the country’s leadership has come under fire for extravagance.
Information that Malawi24 has indicates that the photo was taken at QECH in the male ward of 3B.
The photo has just underscored one of the challenges that the health sector in Malawi is facing at a time that things appear to be spiralling out of Mutharika’s control.
The photo has also made Malawians level much criticism on the Mutharika government arguing that it has upside down priorities.
“With the K65 million that was spent on a useless toilet we could have bought beds for the hospital to avoid this embarrassment,” a social commentator said of the photo.
However musician Faith Mussa posted on Facebook that the photo said more of how Malawians have collectively failed the country.
Mussa said that the photo was of a situation that has been with Malawi for a long time. He therefore stressed the need to join hands in rectifying the situation claiming it had to be improved yesterday.
Recently President Mutharika has come under attack for spending K65 million on a motor home. Critics have said Malawi has serious things that deserve urgent attention than Mutharika’s toilet needs.
