Blowjobs, nepotism, abuse at MBC

…Staff planning a strike

All is not well at the state broadcaster Malawi Broadcasting Corporation following reports that there is a blatant abuse of power, sexual abuse and nepotism at the broadcaster.

A source that spoke to Malawi24 on a strict condition of anonymity disclosed that staff at the public broadcaster are living in fear due to the actions of the new Director General Aubrey Sumbuleta, a Lhomwe and DPP sympathiser who replaced the Professional Benson Tembo when Mutharika rose to power.

“Sumbuleta was appointed owing to his party affiliation and his tribe, that is influencing his judgement and approach to issues,” said the source.

Another source who has opted to leak all the information to the public via Facebook and is using a pseudonym of Chimbalanga Chelmani has further backed the issue of abuse at the broadcaster alleging that Sumbuleta was also involved in corruption.

The whistleblower further alleged that female staff at MBC are being forced to give Sumbuleta blowjobs to secure their future. Those who are standing up to Sumbuleta are being thrown in the cold by the top brass at the broadcaster.

The source has disclosed the names of female journalists who have since become Sumbuleta’s sidechicks.

The source has further leaked that the hierarchy at MBC is being filed by DPP sympathisers with Mgeme Kalirani becoming a de-facto Deputy Chief Executive of MBC. It has further been disclosed that tender awards are being given without following procedure and are in exchange for kickbacks to Sumbuleta who has assumed every role at MBC.

Meanwhile some members of staff at MBC have told Malawi24 that they are planning to stage a strike if Sumbuleta is not removed from his post.

“We will start by writing the President and if no action is taken then we are having him out by force,” said one member of staff in the organising committee.
