Duties and responsibilities
• Build site-level technical capability by delivering practical, role-specific training, coaching and competency assessments in the assigned discipline: Agriculture, Production or Maintenance.
• Ensure employees, new technical entrants and role incumbents are competent to perform work safely, consistently and in accordance with approved operating standards, procedures, quality requirements and performance expectations.
• Provide structured one-on-one training, coaching and skills transfer to address individual skills and capability gaps, improve technical proficiency, and strengthen operational productivity and performance.
• Lead technical onboarding for new entrants, ensuring employees acquire the required baseline technical knowledge, safety awareness, procedural understanding and practical readiness before exposure to live operations.
• Partner with operational leaders, supervisors, subject matter experts and the L&D Specialist to identify capability gaps, deliver targeted development interventions and support continuous improvement in technical performance.
• Maintain competency records, training documentation, assessment evidence and learning data to support compliance, workforce readiness and capability tracking.
• Promote and adhere to Illovo’s procedures, policies and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC).

Qualifications and experience
• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant discipline: Agriculture (Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Science); Process (Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, Manufacturing); Maintenance (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering) or related fields.
• Recognised Facilitator, Assessor, Coaching or Technical Training Certification is advantageous.
• Minimum 5 years’ operational experience within the relevant technical discipline in an agricultural, manufacturing, processing or industrial environment.
• Demonstrated experience in technical training, coaching, skills transfer, competency assessment or workplace learning.
