BOAT CAPTAIN
Position Location and Reporting Line
This position is based at Ekhaya Luxury Resort Limited, Mangochi, and reports directly to the House Keeping Supervisor.
Role Purpose
The Boat Captain is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of resort boats, ensuring memorable guest experiences through exceptional service and adherence to safety standards. The role oversees the maintenance and readiness of boats, water-sports equipment, and recreational facilities while promoting the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Safely operate resort vessels and conduct guided lake cruises.
Provide guests with safety briefings and ensure proper use of safety equipment.
Monitor weather and lake conditions before and during operations.
Maintain boats, engines, and water-sports equipment in good condition.
Conduct routine inspections and report maintenance requirements.
Ensure all recreational activities comply with safety regulations.
Promote boating and recreational services to guests.
Maintain cleanliness and readiness of boats, swimming pool areas, gym facilities, and recreational spaces.
Assist guests with recreational activities and provide information about Lake Malawi attractions.
Maintain accurate operational and maintenance records.
Respond effectively to emergencies within the scope of training.
Perform any other duties assigned by Management.
Qualifications & Work Experience
MSCE or equivalent qualification.
Valid Boat Operator/Captain Licence.
First Aid and Water Safety certifications.
Previous experience in boating, water recreation, or hospitality operations is an added advantage.
