A 28-year-old man has been arrested in Salima after an 11-year-old boy revealed that he had allegedly been sexually abused for some time.
The boy reportedly told his mother about the abuse, leading to the arrest of Chesamu Adam, a phone repairer at Mtukulapakhomo Trading Centre.
Salima Police spokesperson Rebecca Ndiwate said the incident happened in August this year in the Mtukulamwendo area.
Ndiwate said the boy had been afraid to tell his parents about the alleged abuse.
The matter was reported to police, who took the boy to hospital for a medical examination.
According to police, the examination results indicated that the boy had been sexually abused.
Adam comes from N’gomba Village under Traditional Authority Lulanga in Mangochi District.
He is expected to appear in court soon.
