The Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB), in conjunction with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, has released the 2026 Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examination results.
Out of 188,169 candidates who sat for the examination, 111,510 have passed, representing a 59.26 percent pass rate.
Male candidates recorded a higher pass rate, with 63,037 out of 98,020 candidates passing, representing 62.80 percent.
Among female candidates, 48,473 out of 90,149 candidates passed, representing a 53.77 percent pass rate.
Candidates are awarded the MSCE after satisfying the required conditions, including passing in at least six subjects, including English, with a credit in at least one subject, or passing in five subjects including English, with credits in at least three subjects.
MANEB says examination centres and candidates can access the results online through its e-Registration and Examination Results portals. Candidates, parents and guardians can check individual results using the candidate’s examination number and date of birth.
Candidates wishing to query their results have been advised to submit their queries through the heads of their schools by October 8, 2026. Those seeking re-marking have also been advised to obtain and complete the relevant forms from their respective schools.
In terms of school performance, St Kizito Seminary in Dedza topped private schools with 49.71 percent of distinctions, while Old Salawe in Rumphi led Community Day Schools at 16.33 percent.
Bolero in Rumphi topped District Day Schools with 10.10 percent, while Religious and Moral Education was the best-performing subject at 42.56 percent.
