Police in Nkhotakota have arrested a 52-year-old man for allegedly having sexual Man arrested over alleged abuse of stepdaughter with his 14-year-old stepdaughter.
The incident reportedly occurred on August 28, 2026, after the girl’s mother left their home at night to attend a funeral vigil in the neighbourhood.
According to police, the suspect, identified as Richard Lazarous, allegedly entered the bedroom where the girl was sleeping with other children and sexually abused her.
When the mother returned home the following morning, the girl disclosed what had happened, prompting her to report the matter to Benga Police Unit.
The girl was subsequently referred to Benga Health Centre for medical examination, where medical findings reportedly confirmed that she had been sexually abused.
Police arrested Lazarous shortly afterwards. He is expected to appear in court to answer a charge of having sexual intercourse with a female child.
The suspect hails from Bonga Village under Traditional Authority Mwadzama in Nkhotakota District.
The case remains under police investigation.
