Motorists and minibus operators in Blantyre are once again facing uncertainty over fuel availability as some filling stations run dry.
Malawi24 has established that motorists are moving from one station to another in search of supplies, with the situation raising fresh concerns over fuel availability in the city.
Spot checks conducted by Malawi24 yesterday found motorists walking between filling stations in search of fuel.
Minibus drivers at Limbe Depot told Malawi24 that they are facing difficulties accessing fuel, as some filling stations have stocks while others have run dry.
The drivers said the shortage is forcing them to travel long distances in search of fuel, affecting their operations.
Confirming the development, General Secretary of the Minibus Owners Association of Malawi, Coxley Kamange, said some filling stations have been experiencing fuel shortages since the day before yesterday.
“We have been searching for fuel for days as some filling stations are dry,” Kamange said.
Kamange said the association is waiting for the Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) to provide an update and address the situation.
