The Malawi Assemblies of God University (MAGU) has revised its tuition fees for the 2026/2027 academic year, with most face-to-face undergraduate degree programmes now costing more than K1 million per semester.
Under the new fee structure, students pursuing regular undergraduate degrees will pay between K1,001,000 and K1,155,000 per semester.
Those enrolled in the University Certificate of Education (UCE) programme will be required to pay K1,120,000 per semester.
The revised fees also affect diploma, weekend and Open and Distance e-Learning (ODeL) programmes. Students in regular and weekend diploma programmes will pay K700,000 per semester, while those studying through ODeL will pay K504,000.
For undergraduate degree programmes offered through ODeL, tuition has been set at K630,000 per semester, while weekend degree programmes will cost between K700,000 and K980,000.MAGU has also increased postgraduate fees.
Local students pursuing master’s degrees will pay K1,540,000 per semester, while international students will pay K1,890,000. PhD candidates will pay K2,170,000 and K2,520,000 per semester for local and international students respectively.
The university said the fee adjustments were necessitated by rising operational costs. However, accommodation charges will remain unchanged at K240,000 per semester for students opting to stay on campus.
In addition, all students will be required to pay a MAGUMEDS medical scheme fee of K35,100 per semester.
The development comes amid a broader trend of tuition fee increases across Malawi’s higher education sector, with several public universities also revising their fees for the 2026/2027 academic year as institutions grapple with increasing costs of delivering education.
