Organisation: Save the Children International – Malawi
Project: Green Climate Fund (GCF) Climate and Health Project
Submission deadline: 11 November 2026
Submission method: Ariba Network only

Background

The Green Climate Fund (GCF) Climate and Health Project is a five-year initiative running from April 2025 to March 2030. It aims to strengthen climate-resilient health systems in Malawi and generate evidence on the cost-efficiency and feasibility of an integrated approach to inform national scale-up.

The project is implemented through a partnership between Save the Children Australia, Save the Children International – Malawi and the Ministry of Health.

Save the Children Australia serves as the Accredited Entity responsible for fiduciary oversight and compliance with GCF policies and procedures. The Ministry of Health, Save the Children International – Malawi and Save the Children UK serve as Executing Entities, with implementation and fund-channelling responsibilities.

Delivery across six target districts will be supported by the Catholic Health Commission of Malawi (CHC) and the Creative Centre for Community Mobilisation (CRECCOM), both serving as sub-grantees to Save the Children International – Malawi.

CHC will lead community interventions under Outcomes 3 and 4, including treatment of climate-related diseases, climate-resilient water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, and nutrition support for vulnerable households. CRECCOM will manage mobile health units and support community training and the rollout of the integrated climate and health Early Warning and Response System (EWARS).

The project builds on government initiatives, including climate-health EWARS work with WHO and climate-adaptive agriculture programming with WFP.
