Key responsibilities

• Drill marked positions by using drilling machines for installation of electrical panels
• Fix bolts to support the panel using the right spanners to ensure that the panels are firmly fitted
• Lay cables from the panel to the motor by laying them in trenches or cable trays in readiness for the supply of power to the motors
• Fit components to the electric panel during construction and terminate (fix) the cables to the electrical panel and motors to avoid them being loose and for safe supply of power
• Repair the welding machine by fixing loose connections and replacing burnt cables and electrode holders to ensure safe and proper working of the machine
• Install lights and socket outlets in the irrigation workshop, water treatment plants and pump stations to create a safe and secured environment for the operators at night
• Replace carbon brushes and cables to drilling and generator machines and heater blowers to ensure the machines and blowers are working properly
• Promote and adhere to Illovo’s procedures, policies and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC)

Qualifications and experience

• Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE)
• Malawi Tevet certificate Level 2 or National Trade Test Grade 1 and Malawi Craft Certificate in Electrical Installation
• Must have a minimum of 2 years work experience
