Duties and responsibilities
• Manage GIS and drone data operations, ensuring accurate collection, analysis and use of geospatial information to support business decisions.
• Develop geospatial solutions and analytics, including spatial models, dashboards and reporting tools, to improve agricultural and operational performance.
• Integrate GIS technologies and digital systems to enhance efficiency, automation and data-driven decision-making across the business.
• Oversee GIS and drone governance, ensuring data quality, security, regulatory compliance and adherence to operational standards.
• Provide technical leadership and stakeholder collaboration by mentoring teams, supporting users, managing drone operations, and driving continuous improvement and innovation in geospatial services.
• Promote and adhere to Illovo’s procedures, policies and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competitive Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC).

Qualifications and experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Land Surveying or Agricultural Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience with agricultural management software (e.g. CanePro) and GIS.
• Preferred skills: GIS, land surveying, sugarcane agriculture, drone pilot, agricultural machine control, computer programming, database management software, systems integration and agriculture data analytics.
