The death of an FDH Bank employee in Dowa took a chilling turn after investigators allegedly linked her final hours to a prominent church leader who is today expected to face court.
Bishop Medran Chirwa of Fountain of Victory Church is expected to appear before Mkukula Magistrate’s Court in Dowa today over the alleged murder of Tathokoza Salimu, an FDH Bank employee.
Chirwa, 41, is accused of murdering Salimu after preliminary investigations into call logs allegedly showed that the two were together on the day she died.
Police say the suspect changed his mobile phone shortly after the incident before fleeing to Karonga District.
Salimu was found dead inside her vehicle on September 21, 2026, at Chinkhota Village near Tatolonga Bridge along the Dzaleka–Dowa Boma Road.
A postmortem examination established that she died from a penetrating neck injury that damaged the C2–C3 spinal region, consistent with a gunshot wound.
